Psychologist Will Face Sex Abuse Charges

A Detroit psychologist will stand trial on criminal sexual conduct charges after a 14-year-old claimed he molested him numerous times over a two-year period.

A judge ruled Thursday that there was enough evidence to hold the suspect, a psychologist at the Southwest Detroit Mental Health Center, over for trial. He treated the boy at the facility.

The man is accused of offering the boy money and drugs in exchange for sexual favors. The boy also accused the suspect of taking him to Belle Isle where they swam together in the nude.

The suspect submitted a photo of his genitalia to the court, which prosecutors said matched the boys' description.

The defense argued that the boy's story and information given by the boy's mother was full of inconsistencies, and not credible enough to merit taking the case to trial.

The suspect is on leave from the health center and has been ordered not to have contact with youths.
